What I meant to say....

I told Jilian that 'Nothing could EVER make me stop loving you!'

Her interpretation back to me was 'Mommy, something would ever stop when I love you, too!'

What a weekend....

Well, we went to G-town (Georgetown, Texas, that is) to visit my sister and fam. We always end up having so much fun down there.....On this visit, Jilian 'learned' how to chew gum.....and then swallow it - 3 pieces, that is! After the first piece, I instructed her to chew and NOT swallow it. We noticed that the second piece was gone rather quickly. When asked "Jilian, did you swallow that piece, too?" She promptly replied "No.....I ate it." Hmmmm.....don't have the gum thing down quite yet!

My sister and I went WAY back to our childhood....on the swingset. It was one of those huge, metal, industrial size ones that you only see on playgrounds, and it was RIGHT OUTSIDE OF A SCHOOL - PERFECT! We swang and swang and swang.....we were hanging with the big kids (the 3rd and 4th graders, that is). There was even a time that we were 'glued' (you know, when you're swinging at exactly the same time?) Well, the BIG kids were jumping out of the swings, from really, really high. Well, we decided to jump out from really, really high (or just a few feet for us). It turned into a contest....which the 3rd and 4th graders won. My poor sister, she was so sore the next day....we're too old for this!

We went to the Red Poppy Festival (or as Jilian calls it "The Poppy seed Festival"). The girls got their faces painted.
How cute are they?
We got to walk around and visit some vendors and do some other fun stuff! And, the craziest thing happened! My sister and I ran into one of our favorite 5th grade teachers from Christie Elementary, in good ole' Plano, Texas - Mrs. Roelofs! She must have thought we were stalking her because we recognized her and then followed her until we could figure out where we knew her from. And, when we couldn't figure it out, I walked up to her and asked her how we knew her (if that's not stalker-ish, then I don't know what is!) She recognized us and our names right away! It was so cool - lots of childhood days were brought back to us this weekend - we sure remember the good times and try not to think of the bad times.
Where should we go next?

Later that night, we got to see the Bellamy Brothers in concert on The Square. Gimme, a gimme, a gimme a redneck girl.... The Harris's....

The Wileys.....
The Donovans....What a great family....

A couple of new things

We discovered at dinner tonight that we are raising a teenager...."Thank you for the cheese, Daddy." "Well, Mommy brought it over here; you should thank her." "Whatever" (sigh) Um hmm....teenager, we're in REAL trouble!

Jilian loves corn on the cob....

And, strawberry shortcakes....looks A LOT like Daddy!

We've decided to have her use the doggie door to go in and out of the backyard (we don't even have a dog!) :)

We spend most of our evenings outside now that the weather is so beautiful, and Jilian is 'learning' how to swing. She's only fallen off once, and she cried a tiny bit. I told her that she just needed to dust it off and try again. AND SHE DID! I was so proud of her! She DID learn, however, how to teeter-totter (thanks Aunt Janie), and she can go really, really high. My, how the time goes by....

I forgot to post some pics from Easter. We spent it with Brad's parents, Mimi and Poppi. Jilian loves to go to their house, mostly because she pretty much runs the place! She did pretty good during the service, and her favorite part is putting money in the collection basket.

This weekend, Brad's cousin and family from Chicago came to visit. His little one is 16 months. Don't you just wanna squeeze those little cheeks?? I did - A LOT!

We went to a Frisco RoughRiders game (the minor league baseball team), and we got to tour the facility. It was so cool! I felt like a tourist with my camera around my neck, taking a picture of everything. We got up close and personal with Deuce and Daisy, the prairie dog mascots. They're kinda scary at first, but the kids love them!

Well, we wanted to get the 'Chicago Donovans' a little something to remember the RoughRiders. Brad asked me what we should get Haley. "Um, something soft and small. Do you want me to come with you?" "Nay, I'll get it." This is what he came back with....

Perfect. Two baseball bats for the girls. Exactly OPPOSITE of what I suggested. Just like a good husband. Awesome. They conveniently 'forgot' to take theirs home, so now we have TWO baseball bats.

Chicago Donovans, I'm shipping it to you tomorrow!

Easter Festivities

Here's what I did today....
First, I had my picture taken with the Easter Bunny...

Then, I ate a snow cone....with a fork?

When it was time to go hunt eggs, it was like herding cattle to the hunt area...

When we first got out there, we could see some eggs before we even began hunting! (Click on picture to see larger)

It was so exciting...even the news was there!

And the cops....

"Mommy, are we laying eggs or hunting them?"

Headline News..."Cops arrested teenager for posing as a toddler at an Easter Egg Hunt. Seen wearing a white shirt, and carrying a big gold basket full of eggs!"

"Mom, can I have a piece of candy?"(chewing)

"Mom, can you stop taking my picture, pleeease?" (teeth clenched, lips not moving)

Then, I got my face painted...

I wasn't supposed to slide down the big slide, but I snuck into the line, and I think I blended in well...

Then, we did the Bunny Hop, but I think Dad thought we were dirty-dancing...

I got my picture taken one more time with the Easter Bunny. I stood with a few of Mommy's boss's kids....hope that works out well for Mommy....

I had such a good time...

Love, Jilian

New Jilianisms....

Here are some fun words and phrases she says now....

"Daddy, stop reminding Mommy....she doesn't want to talk about it!" (when Daddy is "nagging" Mommy about something)

"We went to gymnastics, and anybody was there!" (instead of 'nobody', she says 'anybody')

"I'll tell you when Michael Scott comes on." (the traffic guy on the radio)

"Mommy, why did you call him a jackass?" (Mommy needs to watch the road rage :)

"It makes me nervous to tell you about my day." (Like she knows what nervous means!)

"That block is Catawampus!" (Thanks, Miss Sarah, for that cool word!)

"Can I have Cool Quip on my shortcake?" (instead of Cool Whip)

We are so lucky to be Jilian's parents. This little person has taught us so much more than we ever thought possible. We don't sweat the small stuff anymore, and if we had to choose between folding the lauundry and dressing up in princess gear (again), it wouldn't even cross our minds. It's amazing what you can learn from a 3 year old. Everything is so simple in their eyes, and it's so much better that way. While I might yell a cuss word (like Jackass) at another driver, the word patience was hardly in my vocabulary before Jilian. And stubborn, boy is she ever....just like her Mama! While she is mostly a very well behaved kid, when she doesn't get her way, she is very passionate about it. She is a very thoughtful kid - when I left this morning to go to court (another long story), she said "I'll pray for you Mama." When I asked her what she said when she prayed for me, she said "Dear Jesus, please let my mom come home. Amen." I got tears in my eyes. :) She truly cares about people and worries what will happen to them. And, of course, my little ham has to always be laughing! She is the sweetest thing to come into our lives. We feel so lucky to have her, and after all that we went through, we look back now and say "It is so worth it." And all that other stuff just doesn't matter....

Remember the movie The Bodyguard?

Well, I was very vividly reminded of it when the theme song, "I Will Always Love You," by Whitney Houston (originally Dolly Parton), came on the radio. And if that wan't bad enough, Brad sang the entire song, word for word, and trying to hit EVERY note she sang. It was a long trip back from the Arboretum...
